The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Construction & Development (MTA C&D), formerly Capital Construction, undertook a $400 million reconstruction of the South Ferry Terminal Station to improve commuter access in Lower Manhattan. The upgraded station now allows for 10-car train service and improved storage and train egress in and out of the station. The work was performed in Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. The program involved several contracts including the design-build construction of a new structural box station, the finishes and signal work, and the improvement of Peter Minuet Plaza above the station.
Overview
PMA Role
PMA led MTA C&D’s defense of significant claims before the Dispute Resolution Board that led to final closeout settlements on terms favorable to MTA C&D. PMA now provides project controls services that include monitoring the contractor schedule for the South Ferry Station and other MTA C&D projects.
