This $4.5 billion campus modernization project includes the demolition of 13 existing office buildings across a 77-acre site and the new construction of a state-of-the-art, high-technology campus. Included in the new construction is a 6,500-space below-grade pre-cast parking structure, with 16 office buildings above grade, 4 of which are erected on the podium of the parking structure. The site also includes extensive improvements to sports fields, a central utility plant, and any necessary utilities. This project allows Microsoft to expand into new markets and new products and provides a refreshed campus for employees.
PMA provided scheduling services to the general contracting team, helping supplement the existing scheduling team. Staff worked to improve the general contractor’s process of updating the massive schedule to rely on the schedule information as a construction tool as work is performed in the field. PMA also assisted with scheduling and change management on the Whatcom, Chelan, garage, and sitework phases of the project. On such a large site, the number and complexity of issues that can affect a schedule become harder to manage and organize. To handle this and keep the project organized and moving forward, our staff worked with individual project teams for each of the phases. By using the team’s extensive knowledge of Primavera and NetPoint, PMA managed scope changes and communicated their potential effects on the overall project timelines, preventing schedule delays and cost increases.Overview
