The $3 billion Accelerated Bridge Program (ABP) includes the replacement, rehabilitation, or repair of approximately 250 bridges statewide over eight years. The ABP addresses hundreds of bridges in most urgent need of repair across the Commonwealth to ensure public safety, creating thousands of engineering and construction jobs and saving an estimated $1.5 billion in avoided inflation and deferred maintenance costs.
Overview
PMA Role
PMA, as part of the project controls unit (PCU), is preparing a project controls program for implementation that requires daily interaction with MassDOT Highway design and construction staff with a primary mission to collect, review, analyze, and report on data pertaining to project schedules, cost, and program budgeting. The PCU is controlling project schedules and costs to help MassDOT achieve the state legislature’s program-wide goal of 90% on time and on budget. The project requires training MassDOT staff in project control techniques to monitor and control projects. Additionally, PMA is providing IT support to supplement MassDOT IT Department’s Primavera implementation, support, and maintenance.
