The Los Angeles Department of Public Works (PW) requested staff augmentation services to assist their Project Management Divisions (PMD) I, II, and III with their ongoing $3.6 billion capital improvement program. In 2018, PMA was awarded a $7.5 million on-call contract to provide project/construction management, project controls, and other related services. In 2022, PMA was again awarded a $10 million on-call contract to continue providing these services.
Overview
PMA Role
PMA was first brought on board to help PMD III develop and formalize an organizational structure for its program. PMA designed, implemented, and institutionalized a new project lifecycle project delivery framework for horizontal and infrastructure projects, with its respective project management (PM) and construction management (CM) procedures and tools. As part of that work stream, PMA is helping PMD III create a centralized project controls core team in support of PMD III PMs and CMs and is providing PM extension of staff to support a variety of roadway, storm drain/water, bridge, and dam projects. PMA also developed a 7-course PM Fundamentals training and is currently conducting that training for over 90 PMs and CMs.
