The state of Wisconsin had a renewable portfolio standard that required utilities to generate 10% of their energy from renewable sources by 2015. The $367 million Glacier Hills Wind Park project helped to meet this requirement. Glacier Hills Wind Park, the largest wind farm in Wisconsin, consists of 90 1.8 megawatt Vestas V80 wind turbines that generate approximately 162 megawatts of electricity. Included in the scope was the construction of a new substation, operations and maintenance building, and the collector system cabling network.
Overview
PMA Role
PMA was the project controls lead for the program and was responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the master budget and schedule. Additionally, PMA developed a detailed earned-value tracking system that reports actual-versus-planned progress on a daily basis. These reports helped the project team to quickly recognize problems and worked to mitigate them.
