The University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) built a $35 million Pediatric Emergency Department as an addition to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. This 100,000-SF building consists of a first floor 25,000-SF Pediatric Emergency Department and three shelled floors of 25,000 SF each.

PMA Role
PMA provided owner’s representative services that included assisting in the architectural selection process; providing contract administration, scheduling, and budgeting; and developing a project-specific website with areas for the general public and for the construction team to store drawings, manage RFIs, and post online daily logs and meeting minutes. PMA addressed design and construction challenges to meet an aggressive completion date. Additionally, the project website gave the team necessary tools to manage projects more effectively and efficiently.
