Overview
Brown University’s plans to increase its teaching, research and living space required an updated infrastructure to support the planned expansion. This $72 million initiative includes the campus-wide renewal, addition, and upgrade of existing utility systems. The systems utilize an underground high-temperature hot water piping system, an underground medium-voltage electric distribution system, a central heat plant, and a chilled-water satellite district system.
PMA Role
PMA provided planning, scheduling, project controls, and mitigation services. The PMA team prepared and maintained a detailed CPM schedule, monitored budgets and change orders, and provided Brown University with a monthly progress report. PMA also developed and maintained a project website that updated the community on construction progress and activities. PMA worked closely with the contractor and Brown University on a phased construction approach that included working off-peak hours to mitigate potential disruption.
