The $137 million Boston Arts Academy project is a new 135,476-SF five-story facility dedicated to the visual and performing arts. The new high school for 500 students will feature a 500-seat theater with an orchestra pit, four dance studios, a black box theater, ten soundproof instrument practice rooms, a rooftop recital hall with a terrace, and a gymnasium. The project scope included creating swing space and managing the student move to a temporary building to enable the construction of the permanent facility on the existing site without disrupting the school operation. The Boston Arts Academy building is located across from the Fenway Park baseball field. This congested urban location requires close coordination with the city, architect, and construction manager to manage a safe site during construction.
