The $100 million baggage handling system replaces multiple conveyors and carousels, adds explosive detection system devices, and increases capacity and upgrade control systems. The program also expands the emergency power generation facility to accommodate three additional generators to provide emergency power to the baggage handling systems.
Under its continuing owner’s representative contract to provide design and construction management services, PMA provided oversight and was responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the construction program to control project costs and schedules during multiple and concurrent BHS projects. During construction, PMA served as the project manager, leading job coordination and other project-related meetings; issuing job memorandums, reviewing progress schedule and contractor applications for payments for compliance; performing all field inspections and quality-assurance testing; and performing and reviewing the contractor’s as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
