Alaska Airlines Group (AAG) and the Port of Seattle (POS) are committed to creating a best-in-class passenger experience at Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) via the North Main Terminal Redevelopment Project (NMTRP). This $450 million effort moves toward an optimum level of service in a redeveloped ticket lobby at Zones 6 and 7, including an expanded and streamlined security checkpoint and improved passenger processing; renovation of the existing promenade with additional check-in and office components; and baggage handling capabilities. The upgrades decrease passenger check-in time from eight minutes to less than one minute by updating the flow and technology, allowing passengers to drop their bags without the need to speak to an agent unless necessary. Scope consists of extensive renovations to Zones 6 and 7 ticketing, checkpoint #5, the existing promenade, and curbside.
PMA provides project controls, including program and project management, risk management, construction claims, and document control for this sizable design-build project. Staff are responsible for conducting an independent third-party cost estimate for Alaska Airlines to validate and reconcile with contractor and Port of Seattle estimates. The project spans multiple locations within SEA and is undertaken in multiple phases. As AAG’s project controls consultant, PMA coordinates between the Port of Seattle and the progressive design-build general contractor on this complicated tenant relocation project, keeping open lines of communication regarding design, construction, and public safety, transfer of reimbursable moneys, and other relevant project aspects.Overview
