Q&A with our People

Scott Osika

, Boston

What are you passionate about, and how do you pursue that passion at PMA?

I love to learn, whether it’s reading an interesting article or taking something apart to see how it works.  One of the best parts of PMA is that they encourage us to continually expand our knowledge by attending seminars or obtaining certifications. The PMP boot camp was a huge help in me passing the PMP exam, and they were supportive of me getting my PSP certification.

What current project(s) are you working on?

I am currently providing project controls and schedule support for Eversource’s major transmission projects. I am responsible for updating and analyzing the schedules for approximately 25 projects.

Who/what inspires you to push yourself?

My two daughters Julia, age six, and Emily, age three, inspire me. It is amazing to watch them grow up, experience new things, and get a chance to see the world through their eyes.

What are the most positive aspects of working at PMA?

The people. Everyone at PMA is knowledgeable and talented. Everyone is always willing to answer a question or help with a problem whenever asked.

What is something innovative happening in your industry that makes you excited about the future?

I’m excited about how technology is impacting the scheduling industry. Scheduling programs like NetPoint and P6 can process more and more information. Also, the schedules themselves can be statused by smartphones and tablets in the field, which allows for near-instantaneous updates to the schedule.

What university or college did you graduate from?

I earned my BS in civil engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1998 and my MS in construction management in 1999.

What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?

I love being able to get away to the peacefulness of the lakes and mountains in New Hampshire.

Provide a fun fact or secret talent about yourself?

I am originally from central New York, but I have lived in the Boston area since I graduated from college over 20 years ago.
