Q&A with our People

Nicholas Baldasarre

, Boston

What are you passionate about and how do you pursue that passion at PMA?

From as far back as I can remember, I have been interested in design and construction!  I’ve worked for a designer, a contractor, and ultimately found the consulting seat to be the most dynamic and fulfilling, and—BONUS—I still get to collaborate and work closely with both designers and builders!

What current project(s) are you working on?

Currently I’m working at The Massachusetts Port Authority on two major efforts. I’m part of the Net Zero Program Management Office (PMO) that supports Massport with their ambitious decarbonization goal. I also support the team that plans their Capital Investment Program that comprises almost 400 projects on a $2.7 billion budget.

Who/what inspires you to push yourself? (Personal heroes, family members, ideas)

My family! My dad’s work ethic, mom’s sense of humor, and three younger siblings have always been the inspiration for me to work hard and set a good example.

What are the most positive aspects of working at PMA? Or Share your impressions of PMA’s culture.

My favorite things about working at PMA are the flexibility, collaborative work environment, and most of all, the great group of people! There are various skill sets and expertise within the company, and everyone is happy to share their knowledge or lend a hand to help problem solve.

What is something innovative happening in your industry that makes you excited about the future?

I’m very excited about the innovative technologies in artificial and business intelligence and how they are being adapted and integrated to bring more efficiency and flexibility to the industry!

What university or college did you graduate from?

I earned my masters in architecture from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, in 2012.

What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?

My favorite place in Boston is the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The design is largely based off the renaissance palaces of Venice and is home to the world’s largest unsolved art heist! The center features a four-story open-air courtyard garden with a beautiful variation of exotic plant species. Honorable mention: Esplanade loop around the Charles River!

Any fun facts or secret talents about yourself you’d like to share?

I played a lot of soccer growing up and trained with two professional soccer teams: the MetroStars, now known as the NY Red Bulls, and Cola-Cola, a Chilean soccer team.
