What are you passionate about and how do you pursue that passion at PMA?

I am passionate about delivering value to my clients by helping them conceptualize and deliver the right projects with the right team, using the best project delivery method, and on a realistic schedule and budget.

What current project(s) are you working on? 

I am part of the team advising Austin Transit Partnership on the structuring and delivery of their ambitious Project Connect transit system development. I am leading pursuits of major project opportunities in Toronto, Vancouver, and the Bahamas.

Who/what inspires you to push yourself? (Personal heroes, family members, ideas)

I’ve always been curious, disciplined, and self-motivated. I likely gained these values from my parents. My mother, a registered nurse, was disciplined yet curious about the world around her. My father, a mechanical engineer, managed major resource development projects for most of his career. I love new challenges and continuously upgrading my skills and knowledge.

What are the most positive aspects of working at PMA? Or Share your impressions of PMA’s culture.

PMA is a collection of very talented individuals who work well together to deliver exceptional service to our clients. The culture is collegial and supportive. PMA values continuous learning and innovation.

What is something innovative happening in your industry that makes you excited about the future?

Virtual construction and the application of artificial intelligence to improve the means, methods, and constructability of projects reduce project costs and deliver more reliable forecasts of costs and schedules.

What university or college did you graduate from?

BASc (civil engineering) University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada 1978

MBA (executive program), University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada 1987

I also attended Osgoode Hall Law School (1978-79) in Toronto and successfully completed 1st year law. (My leave of absence continues!)

What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?

I enjoyed sailing in Lake Ontario and in the Caribbean as a former member of the Mimico Cruising Club and the Royal Jamaica Yacht Club. My favorite ski resort is Whistler-Blackcomb.  My favorite hotel is Rockhouse in Negril, Jamaica.

Provide a fun fact or secret talent about yourself.

I’ve worked on projects in over 30 countries on five continents. I’ve been a competitive swimmer, lifeguard, swim instructor, and ski instructor. My other secret talent that amazes my toddler is my ability to snap my fingers.
