Q&A with our People

Alex Siedband

, Chicago

What are you passionate about and how do you pursue that passion at PMA?

I love all things design. My position at PMA gives me the freedom and flexibility to use my creative mind to come up with all sorts of designs.

What current project(s) are you working on?

Currently, I am working on two projects. Project Summit, the next innovation of scheduling software and NetRisk, a tool that analyzes risk assessment.

Who/what inspires you to push yourself? (Personal heroes, family members, ideas)

My sister has been grinding so much these last couple of years. Pushing herself and growing her own brand. It has really forced me to challenge myself as I just have so much respect for her and really admire what she has become and where I see her going.

What are the most positive aspects of working at PMA? Or Share your impressions of PMA’s culture.

The people! My first interview I was told that the people are what make this place special and to this day it remains true. Every person in this company is not only a rock star but also a great person. I can’t really say that about any other company.

What is something innovative happening in your industry that makes you excited about the future?

My field is all about simplifying experiences for people. Investing has been something that many people my age have either not been able to afford to do or honestly didn’t know how to do. There are a lot of new apps right now that have made investing easy and intuitive and I believe this will lead to future generations being smarter with their money.

What university or college did you graduate from?

I earned my BFA from University of Illinois─Urbana Champaign in 2014 and my MS from Northwestern University in 2018.

What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?

Brunswick Bowling Alley. I always feel most like myself when I am on the lanes.

Provide a fun fact or secret talent about yourself?

I am the National Rummikub Champion. Rummikub is a tile game played all over the world. Moreover, I also am a game designer myself. Among the games I have designed are: Connect 4 Twist & Turn; Super Secret Stealthy Spies; Rush Hour Shift; Chicken Booty Chase; Slap Ninja; Crankity; Ribbon Ninja; Swipe Shot; Flopping Magikarp; Burping Bobby; and Scrabble Towers to name a few! My newest creation, Fickle Pickle, will be coming out later this year.

Here is a picture of my dog playing with Flopping Magikarp.
