What are you passionate about and how do you pursue that passion at PMA?

I like building things, creating better communities, and adding value to the earth’s civilization. Working at PMA in construction management fulfills that passion.

What current project(s) are you working on?

I’m currently looking after three projects, the first one is the Wayne County Airport Authority FedEx receiving and sorting facility, located in Detroit, MI. This $423 million project includes construction of a FedEx administrative building, sorting facility, air cargo apron and taxiways, upgrades to Middlebelt and Superior Roads, and some ancillary buildings. The second project is the Gordie Howe Bridge Port of Entry Buildings, located in Detroit, MI. This $250 million project includes six operational buildings, eight outbound/inbound canopies, a skywalk, and a service yard. The third project is Great Lakes Water Authority water resource recovery facility assessment and rehabilitation of yard piping and underground utilities, also located in Detroit, MI.

Who/what inspires you to push yourself? (Personal heroes, family members, ideas)

I’m working hard to make my family proud, and to become their role model and hero someday.

What are the most positive aspects of working at PMA? Or Share your impressions of PMA’s culture.

Working at PMA allows me to deal with wonderful people who are my colleagues, and clients. Also, with the interesting environment in which ideas are being utilized to better serve our communities by delivering wonderful projects. Furthermore, the entrepreneurial approach is encouraged within PMA, and hence everyone can flourish in their own way.

What is something innovative happening in your industry that makes you excited about the future?

Currently, a lot is happening in the construction industry, starting with the efficient design tools to the innovative construction and fabrication methods, and finally the comprehensive project management approaches. Furthermore, the caliber of all these innovations is getting higher and more competent which is adding a lot of excitement to the ecosystem.

What university or college did you graduate from?

I’m a Michigan licensed Professional Engineer in construction management. I have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, from Ain Shams university, Cairo, Egypt. Furthermore, I have an MBA from the German University, Cairo, Egypt.

What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?

I enjoy going with my family to Lifetime Gym; my daughters are members of the swim team, and I’m working out to my best ability to postpone the day on which they will beat me. Additionally, we enjoy all nature blue or green areas. And of course, the delicious Mediterranean food.

Any fun facts or secret talents about yourself that you would like to share?

I was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. Back there the name Ahmed is very popular, and hence my family used to call me Moudy; my school mates used to call me Hassanouf; and my work colleagues used to call me Hassan after my father’s name. I started hearing the name Ahmed since I came here to the US five years ago.
