PMA Detroit-area clients are served by this new downtown Detroit location and by our office in Plymouth, Michigan. Nestled in the heart of downtown Detroit, this PMA office is within walking distance of an eclectic assortment of restaurants, parks, and entertainment venues, as well as the Detroit People Mover, an automated, elevated light-rail system that travels Detroit’s Business District.

The PMA Detroit-area staff have been involved with numerous high-profile projects, including the home of the Red Wings, Little Caesar’s Arena, and a surrounding 50-block development; the Detroit RiverWalk, voted the #1 Best Riverwalk in the United States by USA Today 10Best; and a technical center that services Detroit’s streetcar system, QLINE. Team members also work collaboratively and individually on projects with PMA’s longest repeat infrastructure clients while cultivating and expanding professional relationships with new agencies. Gui Ponce de Leon PhD, PE, PMP

Dr. Gui is recognized as one of our nation’s foremost planning and scheduling subject matter experts. His broad professional experience includes executive and senior roles as investor’s developer, program manager, construction manager, and EPC contractor planner/scheduler.

Dr. Gui led PMA for over 50 years as its founder and CEO,  He continually pioneered innovations in project management throughout his career. He has written widely on the use of CPM in construction contracts and schedule, delay, and acceleration analysis. His recent work with the Graphical Path Method (GPM®) is revolutionizing planning and scheduling at a level not seen since the advent of critical path methods.

Core Traits of a Reliable Schedule

As the primary author of the Core Traits of a Reliable Schedule, Dr. Gui endeavored to codify the essential elements of a reliable schedule into a comprehensive protocol. The Core Traits of a Reliable Schedule contemplates CPM and GPM schedules, and further highlights that a comprehensive, credible, well-constructed, and controlled (seen as the four corners of a reliable schedule) schedule captures the notion of a great schedule. This work is a must-read/must-have for professionals aspiring to great schedules.

Construction Claims

Dr. Gui is a project management inventor (patents pending), most notably of the Graphical Path Method (GPM®), a new millennium alternative to the critical path method (CPM). He has written numerous papers and authored and published the Guide to the Forensic Scheduling Body of Knowledge. Dr. Gui has been admitted as an expert in construction management, project management, standard of care, contracting, cost/schedule analysis, and forensic scheduling in federal and state courts, before AAA and ICC panels, and administrative boards.

Robert Sanders

Bob has over two decades of experience in the waste/wastewater, architectural institutional, infrastructure, power, and environmental markets. He is an effective program manager who utilizes a variety of project delivery approaches, including traditional design-bid-build; design-build; and at-risk program management. He has extensive experience in program, project, and contract management for projects with a cumulative value of more than $8 billion. Bob’s public and private sector experience focuses on project controls and cost management, change order analysis and management, and claims administration. He has also facilitated many strategic planning workshops and value engineering sessions for PMA clients.

•John Zann

John Zann PE, LEED AP

Managing Director, Plymouth

John currently leads the Great Lakes operations group.  He has significant knowledge of construction cost engineering, consultant and contractor procurement, project management, project planning, critical path method scheduling, and construction engineering. He has developed, implemented, and updated schedules for numerous projects. He has worked for both owners and contractors in developing and implementing extensive cost and schedule control systems—including both overall program and project budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. John is a sought-after resource by clients seeking solutions for major water/wastewater projects, public building and infrastructure improvements, and power generation projects. Through these opportunities, John demonstrates his skills and knowledge and earns the trust and respect of his clients every day. Whether providing project controls, claims, project management, cost, or scheduling services, John is committed to developing the best possible outcome.

Darrel Field PE, LEED AP

Darrel is a seasoned professional with extensive engineering experience in project management, project controls and development, project tracking, scheduling, status reporting, estimating, cost control, consultant procurement, and design-build contracts. His expertise also includes developing consultant and contractor performance evaluation processes, managing consultant and construction contracts, and providing project closeout oversight for major public power plants, refinery construction, water/wastewater systems, and other heavy construction with a cumulative value of more than $10 billion. Darrel has prepared and reviewed CPM schedules for major programs, construction projects, and design-build contracts. He has also been responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and applying contract provisions; performing claims analyses; and evaluating change entitlement under various lump sum and unit price contracts in the public sector.
